May 22, Eduard rated it it was ok Shelves: I think it’s important to mention that this work is unfinished and that Eminescu did not mean to publish it in this stage or at all, given Eminescu’s personality.
Even its title is given by the ones that have edited the work and made sure it’s almost readable. The work itself reflects the fact that it is unfinished.
It has a very convoluted plot and even the characters themselves are hard to recognise. The story collapses upon itself and presents no logical course of action. However, tiny bits of the work are indeed special, but overall that is not enough to save the entire story.
And now I’m thinking: Is it bad because is it unfinished and because the author did not consent that his work is published?
Avatarii faraonului Tla
Or should the poor quality faraonhlui this work be attributed only to the author himself? I suppose it’s a bit of both, if that’s even possible. Eminescu never meant for his work to be published and this was not his intent. He most surely would have worked upon it and would have given this work the ending it deserves and maybe a plot that could be avatarki with ease.
Then on the other hand, Eminescu could and maybe wouldn’t have changed much in Avatarii faraonului Tla upon its eventual publishing.
Avatarii faraonului Tla by Mihai Eminescu
His bohemian nature is reflected in this story, but it unfortunately falls short. Avatarii faraonului Tla is Eminescu’s dissapointing attempt at prose with ocassional and slight brilliance. As another review pointed out this work is unfinished, but even as such the plot and the general themes avagarii one’s life, it’s ending and continuation, contingent stuff and stuff that persists in a form or another, etc.
The style is very poetic even though this is a prose, maybe not to everyone’s liking but certainly characteristic of the author. Given that it would have been finished it could have been a really great book, so the As another review pointed out this work is unfinished, but even as such the plot and the general themes of one’s life, it’s ending and continuation, contingent stuff and stuff that persists in a form or another, etc. Given that it would have been finished it could have been a really great book, so the good parts is that the reader can fill in the gaps and bind the weakly related sub-stories presented.
The text is short, not a big hassle to read, so I recommend this book.
